McCloy Park Pool Renamed Tim Chase Pool, to Open Friday
May 27th, 2016 by iPhoneThe City of Monticello will dedicate the swimming pool at McCloy Park in honor of the late Alderman Tim Chase, at 4 pm, on its season’s opening day, Friday, May 27th.
The public is encouraged to attend the brief ceremony paying tribute to Dr. Chase. Following the ceremony, the pool will open to the public with free admission until 6:00pm.
“Dr. Chase was passionate about Monticello Parks, especially this pool,” reflects Mayor Zack Tucker on the preparations for the dedication event. “One of Chase’s first jobs was a lifeguard in McCloy Park. Later he served as pool manager and, on Council, one of its strongest advocates. Naming the pool he loved, in the community he served, is one way we can honor his long standing service to our community.”
The pool, which first opened in 1980, will be dedicated the “Dr. Timothy Chase Municipal Swimming Pool.”
The city’s splash pad in Jordan Park is scheduled open for the summer season on the same day.
