The Monticello, Arkansas Economic Development Commission is being challenged for replacement entity of the City. The Non-Profit Economic Development Commission of the City of Monticello incorporates as it’s Governing Board, Representatives from respective Banks, Industry, Medical, Education(University/Public Schools, Faith Base, Community Base Non-Profits) in a cohesive initiative, Identify the specific needs of the city, build a plan and present to the City Council for implementation. The Commission has an Executive Director who has the expertise, Administrative professional experience to do the day to day operations. The most recent Interim Mayor Administration that concluded 12-31-2014 agenda was to dismantle the commission. The new Mayor Administration in office must make it clear that any entity seeking to bring alternative economic executive leadership apply to the MEDC for the Executive Director Position. This is not a major issue just entity who feels there plan is better and if the MEDC Board see fit then that Entity then in comparative analysis of existing Executive Director the MEDC Board choose to stay with or replace, but to dismantle a Non Profit MEDC who can secure Grants for LLC Consultant be devastating. Simple, the entity who desires this department apply for the Executive Director.
