Monticello Mayor Paige Chase has announced that she is not seeking reelection to that position.

She told MLive, “It is with gratefulness that I tell you I will not run for another term as Mayor. I would not leave this office without making sure it was in good hands.

I have greatly enjoyed my time in this office and I am proud of the things we have accomplished. I am proud to have worked with the best and been witness to their professionalism. We have come out on top during a pandemic. I am thankful for the friendships I have made and all the things I have been taught. I cant explain what it means to me to have been elected and trusted to take care of my favorite city.

I will always care for Monticello the way I do now and will always work to help our city any way I can. I hope to see you all at at the grocery store, church, and the dentist office during the coming years.

Thank you again for the trust you showed me.
