Shortly before 830, Friday night, Monticello dispatch received a call reporting a serious accident at the sports complex on Highway 278 West.
Up on their arrival, Drew County deputies found this Mitsubishi that could be well described as resembling a “crushed beer can” in the driveway to the ballfields.
The vehicle had left the roadway, while traveling westbound, before it crashed into the first entrance of the complex, becoming airborne. It flipped/rolled multiple times, finally coming to a stop on top of the third entrance/exit.
The alleged driver of the vehicle was seen walking west on the highway, seemingly an injured, shortly afterward. The subject was arrested and taken to the county detention facility on alcohol related charges.
The bottom image, taken during daylight, shows where the Mitsubishi originally hit the first driveway, before finally coming to a stop on top of the last entrance.
Rod’s Wrecker removed the remains.
