Man Charged with Rape of 10 Year Old
May 18th, 2018 by iPhoneA 49-year-old former Monticello resident was arrested at a Pine Bluff school, Tuesday, and charged with the rape of a 10-year-old child.
Charles H. Hawkins was taken into custody at the Jefferson Area Technical Career Center, by authorities and transported to Monticello to face the class “y” felony charges.
The Arkansas State Police investigation apparently involved a call to the child abuse hotline, and may coincided with a DHS investigation, where Hawkins is represented by attorney John Frank Gibson, who spoke for him at Thursday’s hearing. before District Judge Bruce Anderson
The investigation began around last September, when the child accused Hawkins of inappropriate sexual contact, when he was staying with a relative of the alleged victim (his fiancé).
Hawkins reportedly has been employed at Jefferson Area Technical Career Center for just over a year.
Since the investigation began, he has been staying in Warren.
Judge Anderson set his bail bond at $50,000.
