Man Charged with Arson after Setting Home on Fire, with Family Inside
July 22nd, 2009 by Joe BurgessAccording to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, last Wednesday, a Cominto area man saw flames coming up on the outside of his home near the kitchen area. At the time, the man and two children were inside of the residence, but all quickly moved outside to safety.
The un-named homeowner told responding Drew Couny Sheriff’s deputies that he saw Jason Barnett, age 18 outside of the residence with a small white bucket, before Barnett ran away from the scene.
Quick action by the homeowner likely put the fire out, but the Collins-Cominto fire dept. was dispatched, as a precaution.
Barnett has been chared with arson in the case, and is being held in the County Detention Facility. His bond has been set at $50,000
