Main Street Water Line Project going out for Bids, Opening set for Sept. 23
September 10th, 2024 by Joe BurgessAccording to Mayor Jason Akers, the Main Street water and sewer line replacement will going out for bids in September, with the bid opening to occur at City Hall on September 23rd at 4 p.m.
The project, should bids be accepted by the City Council, will replace the over 100 year old water lines under Main Street from the South end of Main Street, through the square all the way the intersection of Jefferson.
The bid will be advertised in the Arkansas Democrat- Gazette in order to reach a statewide audience of contractors. Local contractors interested are encouraged to engage McClellan Engineering at www.mce.us.com.
According to Mayor Jason Akers “Water delivery systems (piping) can greatly affect water quality. If this project is approved, it will enhance and modernize our water delivery capabilities. We will open the bids on the 23rd and discuss the project the same night at the city council meeting for anyone wishing to learn more”.
