Many accidents at this intersection involving log trucks, could another route be considered before someone is seriously hurt or a fatality occur?
praying they r alright
Thats my mom’s car. At least she is ok. My heart goes out to the passenger in the other car. I pray for a speedy recovery.
that is a bad turn–if any kind of big truck is along side me I let em have the whole road if they need it I’ll hug the side or slow down so they can go on. I don’t wanta get squahed!!!
I’ve never liked that intersection. Wish there was a bypass around town. Warren has a bypass.
its not just big trucks. people switch lanes at each of the curves and drive like they think they are at the indy 500 or something. If the police were to write tickets for improper lane change, they could probably go a long way to boost income for the city. People don’t seem to understand “stay in your own lane”. I nearly get side swiped on a far too often occurance.
City, in partnership with the state, since that is a state hi-way, should buy the property behind the car wash (old service station) and straighten out the curve.
I so agree with Walter about the lane change. People either choose to ignore the lanes or are too ignorant to drive correctly.
Log trucks should be banned from all roads that tax paying citizens drive on. Log trucks cause all fo the wrecks in Monticello! The City Council should ban log trucks like Obama is banning guns ! Both are extremely dangerous.
i used to live in monticello and know of at least 5 log truck wrecks at that location they just need to slow down and quit trying to get that next load
There have been many log truck wrecks here, but the trucks were over loaded and speed was involved. I also suspect the log truck was improperly loaded. There is not always a tax payer public solution. Edie has it right. If the logging company doesn’t want to pay massive damages, fines and insurance costs they will slow down in the curve or go another route.
I know alot of truck drivers that make that make curve someone from out of town don’t know that curve is tight you got to slow down even in my vehicle i slow down for that curve i don’t want to be in a wreck use your driving knowledge
It says the driver of the truck was not injured, which is not correct information. This was my cousin and although he is not seriously injured, he did break his tailbone. Hate this intersection, it always makes me nervous.
Not only do big trucks have a problem at that intersection.. but there are idiots that come thru there like a bat out of hades!!! Then they decide that they want to switch lanes right in the middle!!! Sometimes it makes me wonder just where did these idiots get their driver’s license!!!!
I agree that log trucks can be dangerous and I for one do not follow them nor do I try to ride next to them,I stay as far away as possible. However they are tax paying citizens as well and have a right to the roads just as you and I do,but they do need to realize that they are much bugger and heavier than other vehichels and can cause serious injury or even death by not being cautious to others around and even the road they are traveling on. I know times are hard and every penny counts on that paycheck but truck drivers lets think about others lives and how important they are to others and slow down and this isnt for all truck drivers just the ones who dont think about others. I do know there are good truck drivers out there who are cautious and take there time to prevent accidents but far too many dont…As for the truck driver in this case I pray you get well soon as well as the others involved…
I forgot to add that not only is this issue with log trucks or semi’s in general its also cars and trucks.Icouldnt tell you how many times I hae almost been hit or seen someone else close to being hit because cars swap lanes without looking and drive like bats outta hell so lets not point fingers when not only log trucks are the guilty ones…Everyone needs to pay closer attention while driving on the highways, put them phones down, leave the radio alone and whatever else could be a distraction and drive safely…
I agree Jamey…it’s not just log trucks. Seems every time a log truck is involved in an accident everyone goes crazy about it. Out of all the accidents in Monticello, people pick out the ones involving log trucks and ignore the multitude of car/truck accidents. I know they’re bigger and will usually cause more damage, but you are more likely to get hit in Monticello by another car than by a log truck. Of course that’s getting a little personal since we all drive those, guess we better stick to blaming truck drivers.
