Local Student Qualifies To Compete At World’s Largest Jr. High Rodeo
June 11th, 2013 by SubmittedGarianna Booker, a student at Monticello Middle School, has earned a position on the Arkansas National Junior High rodeo team and will be traveling to Gallup, New Mexico to compete at the ninth annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo in the barrel racing competition.
Featuring more than 1,000 contestants from 41 states, five Canadian provinces and Australia, the NJHFR is the world’s largest junior high rodeo.In addition to competing for more than $75,000 in prizes, NJHFR contestants will also be vying for more than $100,000 in college scholarships and the chance to be named the National Junior High Finals Rodeo National Champion.
Garianna is also a member of the Arkansas Rodeo Association, the North Louisiana Rodeo Association, and the National Barrel Racing Association. She attends New Life Assembly of God church in Monticello. Garianna is the 13 year old daughter of Gary and Amy Booker of Monticello and the big sister of John Booker. She is the granddaughter of Imogene Gibson of Woodlawn.
