Local Soldier Takes Part in NASCAR Memorial Day Tribute
May 25th, 2015 by iPhoneUS Army Specialist Nick Deaton, of Monticello, was selected as 1 of 150 soldiers at Fort Bragg North Carolina to participate in the opening ceremonies at the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca Cola 600 NASCAR race.
Spc Deaton was holding the giant American Flag along with his fellow soldiers, holding the bottom corner of the flag under the stars. Spc Deaton is stationed at the 82nd Airborne unit as an airborne infantry scout.
Nick is a 2012 graduate of Monticello High School and the son of Police Chief Eddy Deaton and Trish Deaton and DeWayne and DD Burchfield.
