Local Singer-Songwriter Seeks to “Amplify” Her Music
December 1st, 2013 by Joe BurgessJessica Wishard, a 2013 graduate of Drew Central High School, is pursuing her musical ambitions at the Delta Music Institute (DMI) of Delta State University in Cleveland, MS.
She recorded her first EP, “Wallflower” at the DMI this past spring under the stage name of Jessica Faith and, since beginning her freshman year at Delta State, has already received quite a bit of attention and recognition. As a Music Industry Studies major, she is an active member of GRAMMY U, an organization created by The Recording Academy for college students across the nation who are interested in a music industry career. Through her membership in GRAMMY U, Faith learned about and entered one of her original songs in “GRAMMY Amplifier,” a contest hosted by The Recording Academy as a way to help undiscovered musicians by giving their entry more exposure.
Songs are made eligible for widespread “amplification” by meeting and exceeding a 1,000 point minimum. Points are gained when a fan listens to a song on the GRAMMY Amplifier (one point), and when a fan “amplifies” a song on their Facebook or Twitter account via the GRAMMY Amplifier site. Once a song exceeds 1,000 points, it is “Curation Qualified,” which means that well-known artists such as Kelly Clarkson will listen to and choose a song out of all the qualifiers to “amplify” on their own social media sites.
Jessica Faith has entered her song “If I Told You” in this contest, and she needs your help to be “Curation Qualified.” To help Faith gain points, you can click the link to her GRAMMY Amplifier Artist Profile below, listen to “If I Told You,” and select the links on the GRAMMY Amplifier site to “amplify” her song on your own Facebook or Twitter account, if able. The contest deadline is December 10th, and Faith welcomes any and all support. For additional information about Jessica Faith, visit her website. Links are listed below:
