Local Man Released on $75,000 Bond after Assualting Wife, Then Deputy
March 13th, 2013 by Joe BurgessAround midnight on March 5, a Drew County man was arrested by Drew County Sheriff’s deputies, following an alleged domestic disturbance. He reportedly assaulted his wife and was waving a handgun in front of witnesses.
Russell Ward Case, of the 7 Devils area, then physically assaulted the responding deputy. when he arrived at the residence. When the second deputy arrived Case was arrested, after being threatened with a taser if he continued to resist.
When He was arrested, he had a fully loaded 9 mm handgun, with three clips.
Case was charged with second-degree domestic battery, resisting arrest, first degree terroristic threatening, and second-degree battery (causing injury to an officer).
Bond was set at $75,000, and he bonded out of jail later that day.

Deputies are under paid and over worked as it is but when a suspect assaults an Officer it ought to be a 5 year minium mandtory prison sentance for the crime, Officer’s put their life on the line everyday to protect the public and get little reward or recontition for it as it is , they should also be protected by laws to, it used to be that Battery on a Lawenforcement Officer was a felony what happened to that.
