Local Man Arrested for Threatening to “Blow Up” Monroe Business

April 19th, 2021 by

GiffordOn  March 6, the West Monroe, LA Police Department was dispatched to Surge Entertainment Center in reference to a disturbance.

According to the report, the suspect in this case appeared to be impaired from possibly multiple alcoholic beverages.

Upon arrival it was learned suspect Jeremy W. Gifford, of Wilmar, was initially flirtatious with the staff and made several comments about them. Gifford then grabbed and hugged an employee at Surge. Gifford was informed those actions made the staff member feel uncomfortable and attempted to get away from Gifford.
When Gifford‘s demeanor changed, due to him not getting any attention from the employees, he threatened to “blow up” the building the next weekend. A person with him at the time of the incident advised him he had to work that weekend, so Gifford replied he would “blow up” the building the following weekend. Gifford then made threats to the staff that he would “burn” the building down with everyone still inside.  Next Gifford pointed a knife directly at one of the employees.
An arrest warrant was issued by the West Monroe Police Department, leading to Gifford‘s arrest by the Drew County Sheriffs Department. His bond was set at $27,000, facing the charges of terrorism, aggravated assault, and battery.
