Local Man Accepts Plea to Sexual Assault, 2nd Degree
April 8th, 2010 by Joe BurgessA Drew County Circuit Court case, came to an end in a Hamburg courtroom, Wednesday morning, as Demetrius Currington, age 32, of Monticello, pled guilty to the charge of Sexual Assault in the 2nd degree (a class b felony), following events that occurred on or around December 26, 2009, against an adult male victim.
Currington will be listed as a regestered sex offender, and serve 5 years on supervised probation. Currington has spent approximately 100 days in jail, since his December arrest.
Deputy prosecuting attorney Andrew Best represented the state, and offered the plea, based on expected difficulties in prosecuting the case before a jury, and seems satisfied that Currington must file as a registered sex offender.
