Local Man Shot While Getting Rifle From Truck

Around noon Saturday, a Drew County man, estimated to be in his 20s, was seriously injured when a hunting rifle discharged as he was getting it out of his truck.
Drew County Sheriff ‘s Deputies, along with AG&F officers, responded to the Darnell Lane accident scene.
This shooting emphasizes the importance of using extreme caution when loading and unloading weapons in vehicles.
As the man was removing the rifle from his truck by the barrel, a deer antler had slipped into the trigger guard, which caused the rifle to discharge, striking the victim in the lower abdomen.
He was transported by SEEMS to the Star City airport, where AirEvac LifeTeam flew him to UAMS in Little Rock for treatment for his injuries.

This man is a good friend of mine and my families. He was not hunting when this accident happened. He was cleaning his truck.
How is he doing? He is our neighbor.
He is doing good. Still in pain and will be for a while but he’s tough:)
