Local Firm Bids Against MEDC for City’s Economic Development Contract

For the first time in memory, one of the city of Monticello’s “service contract” had to organizations bidding for the same contract.
After MEDC director Nita McDaniel presented the MEDC’s list of projects and accomplishments to the city coumcil’s budget committee (made up of 4 council members), Patricia Mays presented her organization’s proposal for economic development, her education and experience history, and her expectation for the future, if selected by the council.
The decision of which of the 2 organizaitons will recieve over $200,000 in city funds (designated for local economie development) will likely be decided on Thursday, December 18, at the City Council meeting.
