Living Tree Donation Program
July 31st, 2013 by SubmittedPlanting a tree is a wonderful way to honor or remember a special person, group, or event. The Monticello Tree Board has teamed up with the Parks and Recreation Committee to plant trees in all of our city parks. Donations are now being accepted to purchase and plant trees in our parks. This project will add beauty to our parks and encourage residents to get involved.
Celebrate the life of a loved one by donating a tree in their honor. Donate a tree as a gift for a friend or family member. A tree is great as a wedding or anniversary gift! Recognize the good deeds of a group or organization. The donation of a tree is a wonderful testimonial to a life well lived. Family and friends will have a living monument for a loved one, and the tree will also provide beauty, shade and landscaping for city parks.
Last December, 14 new trees including red buds, sycamore, black gums, and red maples were planted in Jordan Park. Several of those trees have been sponsored, but there are still have a few sponsorships available.
The Tree Board’s next tree planting project is scheduled for November 2013 at the Sports Complex and McCloy Park. The number of trees to be planted will depend directly on donations received in the next several months. Please join the Tree Board’s efforts to improve our community by donating a tree.
A donation of $200.00 includes a planted large 1–1 ½ inch diameter, 15-gallon containerized native tree, with a 3 x 4-inch plaque and mulch installed at planting.
A donation of $50.00 includes a planted ½ inch diameter, 7-gallon containerized native tree, with a 3 x 4-inch plaque and mulch installed at planting.
If you have questions regarding the Living Tree Donation program or would like to sponsor a tree, please email The Monticello Tree Board at Monticellotreeboard@hotmail.com. Donations should be made payable to the “City of Monticello” with “Tree Board” written in the Note section. Mail the check to PO Box 210, Monticello, AR 71657 and include the name of the honoree/group and the name of the park where the tree should be planted.
