Lions Club Awards Policeman Of The Year

April 19th, 2012 by

The Monticello Lions Club recently awarded the Policeman of the Year award.

Eddie Deaton, Police Chief, recommended Kenny Cox for the award.

Chief Deaton said Patrolman Kenny Cox was selected based on annual achievement scoring of 1400 points. Patrolman Cox scored 200 points above the other 11 policemen on the Monticello City force. This is the second consecutive year Patrolman Cox has been selected for this prestigious award.

Patrolman Cox said he could not have accomplished this without the support of his wife, Brittany. She is Manager of McGhee Public Library, as well as the mother of their child.

Chief Deaton announced that Patrolman Cox will be assigned to a brand new patrol car for his efforts. Lions Club President John Bullock gave $100 to Patrolman Cox for his award.

Mayor Allen Maxwell commended the Police Department for their excellent professionalism. The Mayor told the Lions Club how the Police Department had worked very hard, on their own time, to rehabilitate their building facilities. He was proud of their safety record and keeping the City safe. Mayor Maxwell also expressed appreciation to the Fire Department and City Barn employees for all the hard work being accomplished on a daily basis.
