Area Youth Accidentally Shoots Himself, Then Blames Non-existent Shooter, Causing Manhunt
June 2nd, 2015 by iPhoneOn April 29, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department answered a call from a juvenile on HWY 114 West regarding a shooting which left the juvenile injured from an apparent gunshot wound.
Information regarding the assailant was obtained from the victim, and a search followed involving personnel from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, Star City Police Department, and the Arkansas Department of Correction.
The victim was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
During the course of the investigation, the victim admitted in an interview with Chief Deputy Bo Hudson that the incident was reported falsely, and that the injury was the result of an accidental discharge while handling the firearm.
Charges have filed with the Prosecuting Attorney’s office for Filing a False Report with a Law Enforcement Agency, a Class “D” Felony.
