Life Imitates TV – Squirrel Causes Wreck

An 18 year old male was traveling towards Monticello around 10 am, Wednesday, on Winchester Road, near the new Pine Hill Store.
As he came around a curve, he swerved to avoid hitting a squirrel in the road, causing him to lose control of his Toyota Camry, which rolled and flipped across the ditch, striking the line of trees, and coming to rest upside down in the ditch.
The youth was transported to DMH to be checked out, but reportedly didn’t appear to be seriously injured. Drew County Sheriff’s deputies worked the wreck; C&L towed the Camry.
There is no evidence that a group of squirrels planned the incident, as they did in the recent Geico commercial, but that may be one possibility.
