“Last Night, I Used Xanax, Alcohol, Meth, & Marijuana.” -Things Not To Say When You’re Late to Court
March 3rd, 2015 by iPhoneLast March, a 19-year-old Monticello female was charged with filing a false police report against a young man, causing his arrest.
In May, she was sentenced to serve five years on probation, as punishment.
Thursday morning, due to the icy weather, circuit court began at 10 AM (with all defendants expected to be present)
Around 5 PM, that afternoon, 19-year-old Cortlyn Foster stood before Circuit Judge Sam Pope, and was asked why she was so late getting to court. Instead of the “the roads were slick” response, that everyone expected, Foster answered that she did not hear her alarm clock that morning.
As it appeared the judge may have been inclined to show her pity, in the last case on that days court docket, a member of the court staff pointed out, “Judge, there’s something relevant to this issue you may want to be made aware of.”
It was then told to the court, that Foster, earlier in the day, had admitted to her probation officer, “Last night, I used Xanax, alcohol, marijuana, and meth.”
After a brief moment of silence, the judge replied, “I guess that could be the reason, she didn’t hear her alarm clock, this morning.”
Foster was turned over to the custody of the sheriff’s department, for violating her probation agreement, in several aspects.

This is literally one of the dumbest things I have known someone to say in court!
Pitiful! GROW UP!!!!
She is still someone’s daughter that has a serious disease that she is fighting. Really helping this child by putting negative comments on here! I will pray for you and you can turn your life around today. Do not listen to the negative statements! God will get you through it!
Yes. Only God can judge its a shame how people can act as if they never been low before and may still be. Praying for her and her family.
At least she was honest
This is not a case of a dumb girl. It is clearly a case of someone screaming,” Somebody please help me!”
