Lake Monticello Drain Opened in Preparation for Storms, & Lower Levels for Timber Harvest
July 12th, 2019 by iPhoneML spoke with Mayor Paige Chase, Thursday afternoon, when she described the water levels at Lake Monticello. The water level at Lake Monticello is slightly above where it needs to be to effectively harvest the timberĀ in the nearby wooded area, that needs to be thinned for maximum growth.
The drain, which goes through the levee into the flow channel, will be partially/randomly opened to maximize drainage, but prevent flooding in low-lying areas.
This also takes into consideration the heavy rains expected from hurricane Barry, this weekend.
Updates will be posted on MonticelloLive.com as they are released.
