Lake Levee Bids Range from $211,000-$837,000 – Videos
November 19th, 2020 by Joe BurgessTuesday afternoon, bids to repair/rebuild the Lake Monticello levee were opened at City Hall.
The bids ranged from $211,000 – $837,000.
Discussion will be held at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, explaining why the bid range was so wide, and if anyone will have the ability to amend their bid for misunderstandings.
One possible cause for misunderstanding was that bid specifications called for a note describing possible costs for moving other material to the lake site, if that were to be needed. (it is believed, but not stipulated, that all needed material is already at the worksite.)
The photo shows where city workers are currently removing rip-rap, the large gray rock, from the lake levee, to reduce the expense of the bid winner having to do so.
