KXSA Off Air, Due to Friday Fire at Transmitter Site
May 20th, 2013 by Joe BurgessFriday afternoon, around 3:30, the Collins-Comonto Fire Dept. responded to a building fire just off of HWY 35 East, near Cominto.
The building that was destroyed had housed the transmitters for KXSA radio, 103.1.
Lightning had reportedly struck the tower recently, but the station was on the air, earlier Friday.
The building and its equipment appear to be a total loss.
Pines Broadcasting owner Jimmy Sledge was considering how to get the station back on the air by other means, Friday, but nad not had time to make any arrangements.
KWRF 105.5 plays current counrtry, a slightly different format than KXSA played, but it may have to be a substitiute for local listeners for awhile.
