Joe Rogers Announces Candidacy for Mayor’s Race
April 2nd, 2014 by iPhoneJoe Rogers has announced his candidacy for mayor of Monticello as an independent candidate in the special election and the general election. Rogers is a native of Drew County and a resident of Monticello for 50 years. He has been the manager of his family owned business; Rogers Men’s Wear, for 32 years and served a four year term as Mayor of Monticello from 2007 through 2010.
Rogers has served for seventeen years as the Arkansas South State Babe Ruth Baseball Commissioner. “If elected, I will serve our community with honesty and integrity and insure that the citizens of Monticello will receive the friendliest and utmost respect.” Rogers said in making his announcement. “ I promise to support all of our educational facilities to insure our youth receive the best opportunity for success. Our youth are our future and they deserve our untiring support. I will continue to explore and facilitate economic growth by supporting our existing business and industry and by seeking new growth to our area. We cannot neglect our infrastructure; our streets, our parks and other services, fire protection and police protection. Every part of our city deserves the best service that we can provide. I will listen and respond to every citizen and take appropriate action on their behalf. I stand ready to build a stronger Monticello when elected as your mayor.”
