When a councilmember was asked about the comparison between vendors and the cost, they provided the following information.
“Attached (Posted in the following headline ) is a comparison for the different service suppliers that submitted information for the cyber and data security to include a website. The left hand margin lists the benefits.
I also studied some articles related to ransomware and data breachs and costs associated with those potential risks.
To me the important areas are Cyber Security & Disaster Recovery, email anti-malware and anti-spam, data backup and maintenance and firewall protection. I also researched records/document management, assistance with Legislative Audit Compliance & Testing. In this age of technology it is important to have a website that is always up to date and includes information helpful to the public. I believe that we can also build in links to offer payments online for certain services. I believe we can also, in the future, improve it to offer other functions. It is also worthy to mention that IT in a box includes Microsoft office with hardware and software support both remotely and on-site if needed.
In researching IT in a box, they have many customers that are municipalities. A couple of the cities sites they work with and their web sites looked very good and easy to navigate. In the end I felt it important to have protection for Monticello’s data and to protect the citizen’s personal data and have a web site that represents us well. In my research I felt the best one to do that was IT in a box.”
