Investigator’s Testimony at Williams Trial – 2 pm Update
August 28th, 2014 by iPhoneTestimony began at 1 pm , with a detective from the Warren Police Dept., who had investigated Ms . Walton’s disappearance.
A 15 minute video of his interview with Williams was shown to the jury, where he said he hadn’t talked to or seen her since 8:30, that morning, before she died . (It was noticed that the defendant sat behind the monitor, so as not to watch the interview video.)
The phrases , “I really don’t know anything about her whereabouts,” and , “I really hope nothing bad has happened to her,” stood out from the interview.
The detective then obtained phone records, which were shown to the jury, showing her travel from Warren to Monticello ( taking her child to pre-school) and back to Warren. Records also reflect that she went back to Monticello . This included several calls from Williams that she didn’t answer.
The phone was turned off at. 3:43, that afternoon.
He also displayed text messages from Williams to the deceased victim, described as intended to provide an alibi.
