Hospital Auxiliary Finishes Year Strong, Installs New Officers
June 22nd, 2017 by iPhoneDuring their June meeting, Drew Memorial Auxiliary members marked the end of their 2016-2017 program year with a visit from regional leadership and the installation of the next year’s officers.
Arkansas Hospital Auxiliary Association Dorothy Berley installed the 2017-2018 officers of the local chapter, which will assume their duties July 1.
Barbara Brown, who has continued her tenure as president, congratulated members on their successful fundraising efforts and attributed the successes to members’ willingness to contribute to the events more than ever before.
According to chapter records, the 35 active members logged more than 8,265 volunteer hours and donated more than $32,000 to Drew Memorial Health System over the past fiscal year.
During April, National Volunteer Month, Drew Memorial recognized Auxiliary members with an appreciation luncheon for their ongoing service to the hospital.
The Drew Memorial Auxiliary members donate their time, talents and energy to support Drew Memorial’s patients and their families.
The group hosts fundraisers throughout the year to support its efforts, including jewelry, gift and scrub sales.
Each year the Auxiliary awards a $1,000 scholarship to a student pursuing the field of medicine or nursing.
Members volunteer in dozens of hospital areas and handle all gift shop operations.
Last fall the Auxiliary announced a $100,000 pledge to support the hospital’s expansion project.
Prospective members may stop by the Gift Shop to learn more about volunteering with Auxiliary.
