Home Destroyed by Fire
October 12th, 2018 by iPhoneAt 4:30, Thursday afternoon, the Monticello Fire Department was dispatched to a home fire on Old Highway 13.
Drew County sheriffs deputies and OEM, also responded.
Due to the location of the home, and the distance from the nearest fire hydrant on Highway 425, a hose truck stayed at the scene, battling the blaze, while 2 other trucks shuttled water to the home.
Clear Creek Fire Department was also paged to bring their tank trucks, to assist keeping the water supply stocked.
One of the home’s residents was present, and had gone outside to take care of animals. We were told that when she was returning home, she saw a glare, and soon realized that it was the blaze. She then notified authorities. The residence appears to be a total loss.
MFD was on the scene until after 8:30 PM
