The political forum at Holmes Chapels Hawkins Community Center was an outstanding formatted event by the newly formed community entity, known as Concerned African American Citizens of Monticello and Drew County. If it had been attended or cross reference represented by African Americans from the various entities who make up the African American constituency of Drew County then it would have been an impact initiative that could have given a random projected poll result of which candidate have the favor of this supposing representing body. The African American Clergy is the noted entity of fact who influence 90 ;percent of the voting entities and it was shocking that only three were represented and two from the same constituting of whom one is a candidate in participation. The issues with people and entities is special interest and self promotion agendas and the end result is remarkably noticeable to the general public that response is minimum to none support which will totally deceive the candidate and reviewing public of media review. This 2012 election year is really a changing of the guard electorate with the past entities who have dominated the election process finding themselves now in the minority due to the passing own from mortality to immortality of those who carried and dominated the process since World War II and now a new 21st century entity has emerged reshaping and redefining new values and new concepts that are totally different from the former that we often fail to realize the factual truth and that being, The Almighty God works in a mysterious way for his wonders to perform and not ours. The plans and hopes will be shattered if we do not take note of the agendas and platforms that are being presented and vote and support that platform that will enhance your specific needs and the needs that will be for the betterment of the community, county, region you live. There are various classes of entities from the Rich and the Powerful, the Upper Class, Upper Middle Class, Middle Class, Lower Middle Class, Moderate to Low Income and Poverty. The key in the Democratic Process is where do you classify and vote to support that entity who will be for the betterment and if practical elevation and enhancement of you and the people you live and thrive with daily. That is what makes up what the world knows and desires to be like or part of known as the United States of America(The Greatest and most Blessed and Prosperous Nation in the history of mankind)One Nation under The Almighty God through Jesus Christ with Liberty and Justice for all it’s Citizens and if Concerned Citizens will be an effective entity for this particular ethnic Culture, it must be represented all and not in part of the entities and institutions of that culture to speak and represent what is for the betterment of that entity. I am what God is for and that is, what is for the betterment of city, county, region we live and serve in.
On behalf of the Concerned Citizens of Monticello, I would like to set the record straight on a few points.
Our group is the Concerned Citizens of the Monticello Area. We are not a group of “concerned African-American citizens”, but a group of “concerned citizens”–not exclusive to one race or class. We are a small group of concerned citizens who are seeking to build a base of people who would like to come together and work towards a shared vision for the City of Monticello and surrounding areas.
Our mission is to educate, inform and be a voice for all citizens of the Monticello area. Our meetings are attended by people of all races and we welcome all concerned citizens to attend our monthly meetings and special events and become more involved in government and community affairs.
We are happy to have recently hosted two successful forums with over 150 people attending. We would like to thank the candidates who attended the forum and provided their position on how they intend to address critical issues facing our city if elected to office. We would also like to thank the residents who attended for their commitment to seeking a clear and accurate understanding of the candidates’ positions so that they can make an informed vote based on fair representation from each candidate.
Our meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m at the Ethel Hawkins Center, 547 McCloy St, Monticello. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
Joe Britton, Chair
Concerned Citizens of the Monticello Area
Mr. Britton misunderstand the reference of this particular form of which I serve as member of this Concerned Citizens and member of the Community and Economic development Committee. This session was to educate and give opportunity to the ethnic and cultural sector to make up and thrive within the African American Majority sector of Monticello in particular Ward 1 and 3. It is valid evidence with the various forms in respective communities in towns and community’s throughout Drew County that cultural enrichment of a particular community carry different ethnic and community affairs concerns and for that reason the people of this great and historic County who exercise the democratic process to the max are having those seeking office to represent them to come and answer specific questions on What, How, Where and Who from they will seek and receive funds to specifically assist their community. That is the point with the African American sector. There is much more than a Sadie Johnson facility for a rented meeting place. Community’s are seeking assistance and entities that will represent and produce for them needs in all social and economic arenas of their life and the commercial, educational and local, regional, state and national government initiatives. The only forum that will speak to the general concepts will be the forum set for May 17, 2012 by the Southeast Arkansas Cornerstone Coalition
at the Drew Central Auditorium. It is understandable that the Arkansas Public Policy Commission who oversees the Concerned Citizens of Monticello, Arkansas, specifically stated the organization is to gather their supposedly left out or persons not in the mainstream to give validity and voice to affairs that they are often left out and again numbers are not the issue, cross section of Faith Base, Community Base Non Profit, community block leader representatives, seniors, adults, adolescents and youth representatives along with representative alderman, quorum court representatives of this particular socio-economic group. It was an outstanding forum hosted and narrated by an outstanding facilitator in the Honorable Lavonda Ross
