Help Support Mural & Monticello Downtown Network Committee
November 10th, 2021 by Joe BurgessIn an effort to better promote our community, the Monticello Downtown Network Committee has been hard at work planning exciting additions to Monticello’s Historic Downtown Business District. We hope most of you have noticed the artwork being done to develop a large, totally unique, mural on the west side of the building located at 113 West Gaines Street. This mural will serve as our official welcome sign for historic downtown.
The post card-type images represented on the mural were carefully selected to give visitors a sense of the many aspects of Drew County that make us truly special. In addition, we hope it will give all residents an increased sense of pride in this place we all call home.
Perhaps best of all, this first mural will set the tone for telling our Monticello and Drew County story to everyone. Our future plans include selecting one of the “post cards” from our first mural and expanding on it to develop another mural within our downtown area. If possible, we hope to include the use of all of the first mural “post cards” as inspiration for additional mural depictions throughout downtown. Let’s tell our story in mural artwork form and encourage tourist to visit and photograph Monticello, with a new appreciation for all we have to offer.
The Monticello Downtown Network Committee hopes you will become a financial supporter for our post card perfect downtown. Help us reach our goal of making Monticello one of the most visited small town downtowns in Arkansas. Become one of our Monticello Downtown Benefactors by carefully considering your donation amount and mailing your check today.
