Foster Care Awareness Month 2019 Proclamation Event, Wednesday
April 29th, 2019 by SubmittedIn recognition of Foster Care Awareness Month, a Proclamation Event will be held on May 1, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Monticello Town Square. Participants will include Senator Eddie Cheatham, Pastor Alford Branch, and Representative LeAnne Burch. Proclamations will be given by Mayor Paige Chase and Senator Cheatham will stand in for Judge Robert Akin.
The Monticello campuses of the Arkansas Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries and Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Family Services have created a display representing the average number of Drew County children in foster care each month, as well as the total number who were in care in 2018. This unique art collaboration will be displayed on the Monticello Town Square throughout the month of May.
The public is invited to attend the proclamation event, enjoy the art display, and visit the partner organizations’ tables to learn about additional Foster Care Awareness and Fundraising Events throughout the month of May.
Partners include the Arkansas Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries, Arkansas Department of Human Services/Division of Children & Family Services, Children’s Advocacy Center of Southeast Arkansas, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children, Families in Need of Services (FINS) 10th Judicial District Circuit Court, The CALL in Drew County, and Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Family Services.
