Former Resident Backpacked The Pacific Crest Trail

thumbnailJeremy Weih completed backpacking the Pacific Crest Trail at the end of September. Having started in May, he spent 133 continuous days hiking 2652 miles from the Mexican border in California, through the Sierra Nevada mountains and into the Cascade Mountains in Oregon and Washington to the border of Canada where this picture was taken. 

He averaged backpacking 20.5 miles per day. Jeremy is the son of Marilyn Weih, a 2014 graduate of Monticello High School, and will complete his B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (MS&T) in May of 2019.

    I am so impressed! I’m sure your endeavor was challenging, but what an accomplishment. I can’t imagine being able to hike that far!! So good to read about you. I can’t help but still picture you as the cute, shy little boy in my 2nd grade class! Very proud of you, Jeremy!
