Former Escapee Accepts 20 Years in ADC Plea Offer
June 6th, 2022 by Joe BurgessBrandon Cox, who became one of the most talked about figures in Drew County, on September 29, when he escaped from a local medical facility from DCSO jailers.The escape caused local schools to go on lockdown, while leading officers on a two day manhunt, accepted a guilty plea offer of 20 years in ADC, followed by a 5 year suspended imposition of sentence.
Cox was originally charged with kidnapping, terroristic threatening (first degree), possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree domestic battery and fleeing on foot (second offense), following a domestic incident. Cox was arrested for those changes on September 16. The only change of charges in his plea bargain was the “kidnapping” charge was reduced to a “false imprisonment.”
On September 29, Cox escaped from officers while on a medical visit, described in the following article, before turning himself in to Sheriff Mark Gober, two days later.
