Forest Fire on Midway Rt.
May 4th, 2015 by iPhone
Approximately 30–40 acres of forest land was damaged by a woods fire. The fire occurred off of Miday Rt., West of its intersection with the I-69 Corridor
The Monticello Fire Department responded, along with the Arkansas Forestry Commission.
The fire was reported around 6 PM, Sunday evening, and was controlled at approximately 7:45. No structures were reported to be harmed.
To show how firemen are paged out at the most inconvenient times, the “best dressed fireman award” would have been presented to Richard Russell, who went to battle the blaze in his “Sunday shirt and tie”.
