Fireworks Believed to Have Started Fire that Destroyed Midway Route Home – “No Missing/ Deceased Victims Reported in Case”

According to Sheriff Mark Gober, the Midway Rt. home fire, that started in the early morning hours of March 17, is believed to have started with fireworks being shot off inside the residence.
Also, MLive received multiple questions about a missing or deceased person related to the fire.
When asked, Sheriff Gober reported that no missing persons from the incident have been reported by family or occupants of the structure.
Although the investigation is continuing, those are the highlights of the current case notes.
At 2:48 AM, the Monticello Fire Department was dispatched to a mobile home fire, in the 300 block of Midway Route, for a blaze that covered the entire length of the home.
Drew County Sheriffs Deputies and OEM also responded.
Firefighters left the scene at 6:50 AM, after battling the fire for 4 hours. The home was a total loss.
