Fire Chief on “Administrative Leave,” Interim Fire Chief Appointed

Mayor Allen Maxwell, in a recorded statement Monday morning, confirmed that Fire Chief Steven Faulkner has been placed on administrative leave, and an interim Fire Chief has been appointed, effective last Friday.
The interim Fire Chief is Kelly Reid, a captain with the dept.
Unconfirmed rumors have been reported to MonticelloLive, and MLive made an FOI request to the City of Monticello for those documents, this morning, when the office opened.
Last Friday, Maxwell would only confirm that there was a personnel issue within the fire dept. that couldn’t be commented on.
Personnel documents are very limited, as to what can be made public, but most other city records are available for FOI requests.
