Felts Named to Arkansas Nurses Association Board of Directors
December 17th, 2024 by UAM NewsDr. Christine Felts, professor and program coordinator for the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program and clinical coordinator for the School of Nursing at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM), has been elected Region 4 director for the 2025 Board of Directors of the Arkansas Nurses Association (ARNA). Her two-year term will run from December 2024 through November 2026.
ARNA is the professional nursing organization for Arkansas and is divided into five regions, with Region 4 representing southeast Arkansas. In her new role, Dr. Felts will direct and oversee the development and delivery of services and programs that meet the needs of nurses in the region.
Dr. Felts, who has worked in the School of Nursing at UAM for 22 years, with a clinical and academic focus on women’s health, neonatal critical care and public health, stated, “I am honored to represent Region 4. It is my goal to encourage nurses to become involved at the local, regional and state levels to advocate for the nursing profession. I look forward to this opportunity.”
Dr. Brandy Haley, dean of nursing at UAM stated, “Dr. Felts is one of the hardest-working nurses I know. She exemplifies professionalism, scholarship and service in every aspect of her nursing career. She has been instrumental in growing our MSN program. I know she will be an excellent regional director for the Arkansas Nurses Association.”
According to its website, ARNA “fosters high standards of nursing practice, promotes professional development and advocates for the profession of nursing. ARNA collaborates with other healthcare providers to facilitate access to quality healthcare for the people of Arkansas.”
