Felony Vehicle Theft / Hit & Run Lead to Arrest & $25,000 Bond
January 27th, 2022 by Joe BurgessAccording to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, MPD responded to a hit and run vehicle accident Tuesday that led to the arrest of Tiffany Nicole Sawyer, age 43, of Monticello.
MPD Officers responded to the hit and run accident, which was at the 425/278 intersection and shortly after the accident call, received a report of a vehicle that had been stolen from a local body shop.
Information was then received that Sawyer was at the Drew County Courthouse.
Sawyer was transported to the Monticello Police Department by Detectives, where she initially gave a false name.
Initial charges by MPD include theft of property under $25,000, Criminal Impersonation, Leaving the Scene of an accident and driving on suspended drivers license.
Sawyers bond was set at $25,000 by District Judge Bruce Anderson.
