Fatal Crash on HWY. 278, Monday

At 7:52 AM, Monday morning, one person was killed, and two injured, in a motor vehicle accident, on HWY 278, west of Monticello, near I-530.
The driver of a black Honda Civic, shown in the background, hydroplaned and crossed into the oncoming westbound lane, colliding with an oncoming Mercury Grand Marquis.
Maria Valdez, age 23 of Warren, was ejected from the Civic, and pronounced at the scene by the deputy coroner.
Arkansas State Troopers investigated the accident, assisted by the Drew County Sheriff’s Dept. and OEM.
MASI transported 2 occupants of the Mercury to DMH.
Dan’s Towing and Rods Wrecker removed the vehicles.
