Eyewitness & Officer Testify
September 14th, 2018 by iPhoneContinuing from earlier report;
MPD’s dispatch supervisor presented to court the recording of Riley’s call to MPD, saying, “Come pick me up,” “He jumped on me,” “I shot him,” & “I threw the gun in the creek.”
One of MPD’s responding officers, Jerald Clarke, took to stand, detailing some of the images/video from his body cam, that were taken that day.
The first eyewitness described the scene as Riley and Josh were arguing about what each of them had said about the other’s wife.
When Martin turned to walk away, Riley hit him in the back of the head. After a “throwing punches” fight, the fight restarted after another round of words, no weapons were seen.
The witness saw both men pull knives, but they threw them down, and started fighting again.
After another pause in the fight, Riley was standing by a washing machine, hurt, when he said, “ I got something for you,” then he shot Martin, got in his car, and left the area.
He stepped down after 11 am.
