Emergency Helicopter Landing for Monticello Youth in ATV Accident, Overnight – Monday Update
March 19th, 2012 by Joe BurgessAround 2:30 Sunday morning, an 18 year old Drew County youth was reportedly involved in a 4-wheeler accident in the Possum Valley area.
Drew County Sheriff’s deputies and SEEMS responded to the scene; and based on the youth’s condition, called for Air-Evac to land a medical helicopter in a nearby field to pick up the injured youth. This was the third “on scene” chopper landing in Drew County, since this time saving option became available, just a couple of years ago.
According to sources, the youth was conscious and alert, as he was leaving to be air-lifted to the JRMC trauma center.
A friend of the family reported that the injured youth receieved had surgery, Sunday, to repair his leg injuries.
