Election Summary

May 23rd, 2012 by

Robin Hood won the Democratic Primary. He will now face Republican Jessie Griffin and independent Robert Akin in November.

All precinct votes have come in and the unofficial numbers show two new faces will be added to Monticello’s City Council in 2013.

Cedric D. Leonard won the Ward 1 Position 1 seat against Ronald “Jay” Forte, Jr. and Joe Meeks was voted into the Ward 3 Position 2 seat after receiving 71% of the votes against Charles G. Davis.

Opposed council members that won their positions back, based on the current totals, are Carolyn A. Brown, Claudia Hartness, and Tim Chase.

Current Chief Deputy with DCSO Robin Hood received 50.38% of the votes for Drew County Judge against Jim Glennon and Bobby Harris.

Sheriff Mark Gober will keep his position after current numbers show him receiving nearly 89% of Drew County voters’ support.

The position of Drew County Tax Collector is still undecided, with a run-off being necessary between Josh Frost and current excutive collector Tonya Loveless. Loveless came in slightly in the lead with 40% of the votes against Frost and Cherri Norris, but without a 50% or more win. Josh Frost received 39% of the votes, putting him in the runner up position.

Our current State Representative, Sheilla E. Lampkin, received the vast majority of support in her race against Robert E. Cornelius, earning 87% of voters’ support.

Other State and Congressional numbers will be tallied as other counties submit their final numbers.

All results listed here are based on unofficial numbers, and MLive will update with official results as they are given.
