Early Incorrect Totals Explained
March 2nd, 2016 by iPhoneDuring Tuesday nights local election results, early/absent votes were printed and posted first.
A mistake occurred, as each following precinct was printed and posted,
that caused the absent/early vote totals to be included in the individual precinct counts, as well.
Basically, this means that after/early votes were counted twice, in early tabulations.
This mistake was noticed, and corrected, before the polls closed, but not before many spectators left the courthouse.
No errors took place during the election, nor during the counting process; only during the printing and posting portion of the election.
As a result, in Ward 3, Michael James defeated Raymond Hubbard by one vote, with a total of 121 to 120.
By removing the duplicated vote counts, this correction also declared Judge Bruce Anderson the new district judge for Drew/Bradley Counties, in his race against Judge Sara Hartness.
