Dumas’ Pendleton Inn Explosion & Fire – Photo Video
December 17th, 2013 by Joe BurgessFriday evening, around 7 pm, the Pendleton Inn Apartments, located at the Arkansas River Bridge, east of Dumas, was the scene of a small explosion, followed by a fire that destroyed 8 housing units.Pendleton Inn, a former motel by the river, had been converted to an extended stay apt. complex, in recent years.
The fire reportedly started with an explosion in a residence, where oxygen bottles were present (see photo). That resident was the only person who was tranported by ambulance for medical treatment.
A total of 8 apartments were destroyed, displacing 12 residents, who are currently living in Dumas motels, provided by the Pendleton Inn owner.
Dumas and Watson Fire Depts. responded, sending 4 trucks to the blaze.
All of the residents were present at the time of the fire, but lost all of their belongings in the flames. Any organization wishing to make a donation of clothing or other items can contact First Baptist Church at Dumas, for a list of sizes.
