DTF Reports 2 Methamphetamine Arrests

Jason Akers of the Tenth Drug Task Force, a 52 year old Monticello man was arrested by Drug Task Force Agents last week, and faces felony narcotics charges after what Agents suspect to be methamphetamine was located inside his vehicle on a traffic stop.
According to Akers, Bret Arrington’s vehicle was stopped on Highway 35 by Task Force Agents. Arrington was arrested for driving on suspended license and after a search of his vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Arrington was transported to the Drew County Jail where his personal property was searched and more suspected methamphetamine was located in his personal property. A passenger in Arrington’s vehicle was not charged.
Arrington faces charges of Possession of methamphetamine, Possession of drug paraphernalia and Furnishing prohibited articles into a correctional facility as well as driving on suspended license.
A second and unrelated arrest came after Task Force Agents were called to assist Arkansas Probation and Parole Officers at a Monticello residence. According to Akers, Chad Scogins, age 38, was arrested after Task Force Agents executed a search warrant at his residence and located suspected methamphetamine, paraphernalia and a substantial amount of firearms and ammunition. Scogins was charged with Possession of methamphetamine and possession of firearms by certain persons as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both suspects (at different times) were taken before the Monticello District Judge where they each received a 25,000 bond. Both have since been released from custody on bond.
