Drug Arrest Could Send 48 Year Old Woman to Prison for 3rd Time
April 13th, 2016 by iPhoneSunday morning, before 8 AM, Monticello dispatch received a phone call reporting a “impaired driver” fueling up a work truck at the Valero on HWY 425 North.
A Monticello Police officer responded, made contact with the driver, noted her jerky movements, and discovered she was driving on a suspended license.
During his search of the vehicle he found a baggie containing a substance believed to be crack cocaine, and a glass pipe.
Kassandra Reed, age 48 of Monticello, was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Reed was on parole from Louisiana at the time of her 2014 drug arrest, was in prison from February until December of last year.
She was on parole from that sentence, when she was arrested Sunday morning. She will likely have her parole revoked and be returned to prison on the previous charges.
District Court, Judge Sara Hartness found that there was probable calls for the arrest, and set a $10,000 bond for Reed, based on her ties to Louisiana, and her repetitive criminal history.
