Drew Memorial Health System Ranks In The Top 16% For Patient Experience

Drew Memorial Health System received a 4-star rating when the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the new patient experience star ratings. Drew Memorial has one of the highest patient experience ratings out of all of the hospitals in the Southeast Arkansas region.
“Providing quality healthcare to our patients is our number one priority at Drew Memorial. I am really proud of our staff for going above and beyond for our patients. As a result, our hospital is in the top 16% for patient experience, which is a huge accomplishment. Our staff works very hard to provide quality care to our patients and their families.” said Scott Barrilleaux, Chief Executive Officer.
DMHS is ranked 3rd out of nine hospitals within a 100-mile radius for patient experience ratings. Out of 89 hospitals in Arkansas, only 15 have a 4-star or more rating. Five stars is the highest patient experience rating given by CMS. The patient survey rating measures patients’ experiences of their hospital care. For example, recently discharged patients were asked about important topics like how well nurses and doctors communicated, how responsive hospital staff was to their needs, and the cleanliness and quietness of the hospital environment.
Jodie Efird, Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Quality Officer, said, “HCAHPS surveys and the results are vital to our hospital. The surveys ask for patients’ opinions on care transitions, the responsiveness of staff, recommendation of the hospital, communication between patients and the doctors and nurses, and much more. The survey results allow us to focus on what we must do to ensure our hospital and staff provide the care our patients deserve.”
