Drew Memorial Board Meeting Notes – Health Hero, Cancer Center, Improvements Discussed
July 3rd, 2013 by SubmittedThe Drew Memorial Hospital Board met on June 26, 2013.
June’s Health Hero – Melissa Brantley: Melissa has been a unit coordinator at DMH for 3 years. Melissa was nominated by her co-workers as she went over and beyond the call of duty for no special gain when she found out a newborn at our hospital needed a special type of formula that we did not have in stock or at local stores. Melissa recognized this special formula as her grandson was on this same formula. Melissa went home and picked up some of her own grandsons supply and donated it to the newborn at DMH. There are many heroic actions going on at DMH every day, and Melissa’s kindness and consideration are to be applauded. Its employees like Melissa that are building a legacy in outstanding customer service and quality care at Drew Memorial Hospital.
Cancer Center: A new marketing plan is about to be launched announcing to highlight and emphasize that we have the latest state of the art chemotherapy cancer center in Southeast Arkansas. Staffed by world class physicians and nursing staff. Patients in Southeast Arkansas no longer need to travel as far north as Pine Bluff where they can receive their care in this state of the art facility right here in Monticello, AR.
Departmental Relocations and Modernization: Administration will focus on modernizing the center core of the hospital which is approximately 40 years old. Those areas will include, Dietary, Housekeeping, Medical Records and Lab. Also, waiting room space will be redesigned. There is a growing need for additional physician office space that will need to be addressed in the near future.
