Drew County Population Growing, According to US Census Estimates

Drew County seems to be the only county in the region that showed an increase in population (since the 2010 Census, through the period ending July 1, 2012) based on the US Census Bureaus’s population estimates.
The graphic below shows the population decreases that have taken place in our neighboring counties: Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha, and Lincoln Counties.

This will continue to be the trend for Monticello and Drew County. Monticello is what Middle Class Americans seeking in this vast re-location in particular from the Desert Southwest and the annually increasing Heat Factors due to Global Warming. The vast migration via Florida and the Gulf Coast of Majority Middle Class Entities into arenas like Monticello and Drew County where the trend is in place of Majority Class Middle Class Entities are present and the amenities of unlimited growth expansion coupled with par-excellence recreational and outdoor in place and developmental potential. The University of Arkansas at Monticello and the Stellar School Districts of Monticello and Drew Central in Academics and Vocations makes this region more than marketable. Monticello has on the table now initiative’s that in the finale stage that will make it the new arena of Economic and Community Development in Southeast Arkansas giving Arkansas yet another potential rural to urban corridor in this 21st century. This process began 20 years ago with the Re-Development and Development of US 425 and the massive Commercial Real Estate Development there and the expansion of four lane traffic control. Now 20 years later, new arena of Education, Medical, Infrastructure, Industrial Intermodal, Community and Faith Base Community Development Initiatives in the midst of the most aggressive economic recovery since the Great Depression and Monticello is striving in all socio and economic class arena’s. Favor and Prosperity are upon this Region called Cornerstone and Monticello/Drew County are the Flagship entities thereof.
If this trend is to continue, our community leaders need to develop our infrastructure. We need a Bypass around Monticello, especially for traffic coming from the west. We also need a growth structure with both City & County wide zoning laws to prevent such things as large trucks on small city streets. We need a larger professional police force and a stronger volunteer initiative. Community leaders need to exhibit ethics and integrity and we need to replace unethical politicians. Lots of work to do.
